Clean Energy Transition

Our Policy Accelerator team partners with grantees to advance equitable clean energy transition including electric grid modernization, solar energy deployment, decarbonization, greenhouse gas emissions, and renewable energy technologies, credits, and net metering. This includes work on setting robust and ambitious clean energy standards, 100% Clean Energy, and Cumulative Impact policies. Our work to advance the clean energy transition also deploys our Communications Accelerator’s projects to combat disinformation campaigns targeted at communities of color, as well as education about the mislabeling of toxic and harmful energy resources as “natural,” “renewable,” or “low carbon.”

    Soulardarity is building energy democracy in Highland Park, MI and their neighboring communities with education, organizing, and people-powered clean energy. They are working to install solar-powered street lights, save residents money on energy bills and with our neighboring communities build a just and equitable energy system for all.

    New Virginia Majority Education Fund (NVM EF), Virginia’s leading civic engagement organization, builds power in working-class communities of color across the Commonwealth. We organize in communities year-round for racial, economic, and environmental justice through political education, mass-scale voter outreach, mobilization, and intensive leadership development around dozens of issues.

    The North Carolina Climate and Jobs Roundtable is a network of individuals from the worker’s rights, racial justice, and environmental movements in North Carolina. They are focused on building labor’s contribution to transforming our state’s economic and political systems towards a regenerative economy that supports workers, protects the environment, and paves the way for a sustainable future.

  • Youth United for Climate Crisis Action (YUCCA)

    YUCCA is a youth-led arm of the organization created to ignite a statewide youth-led movement to fight for a livable future by keeping remaining oil, gas, coal, and uranium reserves in the ground and transitioning our state from our dependence on fossil fuels and extractive industry.

    The Center for Civic Policy is a nonpartisan organization that works to empower and amplify the voices of everyday New Mexicans, especially those who experience oppression, to shape a more inclusive, responsive, and accountable democracy.

    Diné CARE seeks to empower, give voice to, and protect the interests of Diné (Navajo) communities. They advocate for Native traditional teachings by protecting and providing a voice for all life within and beyond the Four Sacred Mountains.

    Pueblo Action Alliance is a community driven grassroots organization that protects Pueblo cultural sustainability and community defense by addressing environmental and social impacts in Indigenous communities.

    Faith in Action Nevada is a nonpartisan, multi-faith organization that organizes and advocates for racial justice, economic justice, and an inclusive democracy.

    The Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada was founded by local activists to build a more fair and just state that puts people and planet first. They organize with front line communities and directly impacted leaders for policy changes and community investments that improve the lives of Nevadans.

    Detroit Action Education Fund, is a grassroots, member-led, multigenerational, community-based organization fighting for racial and economic justice for working-class Detroiters. Their mission is to build up individuals and families to challenge the root cause of poverty, advance justice, and promote human development through neighborhood-driven community organizing and nonpartisan civic engagement.

    Michigan United is a statewide organization of community members and institutions fighting for the dignity and potential of every person. They are committed to a participatory democracy at every level, an economy that works for the many, a nation that dismantles racism, and a society that uplifts our common humanity.

  • We Want Green Too (WWG2)

    The “We Want Green, Too!” purpose is to facilitate a secure learning environment that will use the classroom, a specially designed online platform, and hands on trainings that will equalize the learning environment for differently-abled veterans and returning citizens experiencing difficulty in learning new 21st century skill sets.

    Illinois People’s Action aims to empower everyday people and their congregations to become partners in the decision-making process on justice issues they identify. They use the principles of community organizing, leadership training and direct action to achieve this mission.

    Tó Nizhóní Àní’s mission is to protect the water of Black Mesa from industry use and waste. They work to bring power back to our Indigenous communities impacted by coal. Their work is rooted in protecting water—Tó bee iiná. Water is life.

    Mi Familia Vota is a national civic engagement non-profit organization that unites Latino, immigrant, and allied communities to promote social and economic justice through citizenship workshops, voter registration, and voter participation. Mi Familia Vota has operations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, and Texas.
