Winning Strategy

Driving systems change by generating structural, narrative and behavior change to address systemic inequalities in our economy and democracy

As a movement-building funder, we build the capacities of state-based infrastructure to wield durable power for systems change

Systems change requires three mutually reinforcing types of change: structural, behavioral, and narrative change.

HOW OUR WORK DRIVES SYSTEMS CHANGE FOR CLIMATE EQUITY

Our grantmaking, philanthropic advocacy, and policy and communications accelerators equip state-level infrastructure to:

  1. Secure structural policy change

Our programs build political power to change who designs, who decides, and who benefits from public policies. We do this through investments in large-scale voter participation programs in Black, Indigenous, Latinx, AAPI and immigrant communities, as well as supporting grassroots advocacy.

  2. Drive narrative change

Our partnerships with grantees transform public narratives about clean energy as an imperative for a more inclusive and equitable economy. We do this by investing in culturally competent, large-scale strategic communications and culture-shift initiatives that make essential connections between kitchen table economics, community resilience, and climate solutions.

  3. Change the behavior of decision-makers

Our initiatives motivate civic and philanthropic decision makers to increase investments in equity as a strategy for achieving impact. We do this through our philanthropic advocacy, policy fellowship and large-scale voter participation initiatives.

Our people are part of our strategy
