We provide tools and resources to advance strategic communications strategies and initiatives that reshape public narratives about climate action.
Strategic communications is vital to mobilizing public demand, shaping the policy environment, and activating political will for effective and equitable climate action. Community organizations, especially those in communities of color, have been notoriously under-resourced to develop and lead strategies and messaging that resonates among diverse constituents. Our Communications Accelerator program supports grantee partners to grow their strategic capacities and partnerships, enhancing the visibility of directly impacted communities and the solutions they are leading on.
KEY AREAS OF SUPPORT
Enhanced Capacity
We strengthen the communications capacity within grantee partner organizations through targeted funding, staff training and development, and creative campaign resources, including asset creation and message testing. This support addresses a critical gap for many organizations facing urgent challenges with limited resources, often preventing them from focusing on effective strategic communications.
Strategy, Expertise, and Coalition Building
We offer our grantee partners guidance and resources for communications and campaign coordination within state-based coalitions. We also convene industry strategists and experts and share learnings on content and narrative strategy to build long-term, equity-driven narratives.
Digital Content
We connect grantee partners with specialized creative agencies and research organizations that focus on narrative strategies, media campaigns, digital content creation, scaled outreach, distribution channels and media analysis. Through these collaborative partnerships, grantee partners develop a powerful strategic communications toolbox—not only for digital asset production and distribution, but also to combat disinformation and redirect climate narratives.
INSIDE THE COMMUNICATIONS ACCELERATOR
DISINFORMATION WAR ROOM
We connect leading communications specialists with grantee partners to address the fossil fuel industry’s deliberate climate disinformation targeting Black, Latinx, Indigenous and other voters of color.

VOTER MODELING
We launched an initiative to understand the views of Black, Indigenous, AAPI, and Latinx voters on climate change, environmental justice policy, government regulation, and climate action. The result? Two non-partisan voter targeting models and tested messaging to mobilize voters of color as climate equity champions.
