Communications Accelerator

The Communications Accelerator helps ensure that climate equity is not just part of the conversation—it’s the winning frame for policy, organizing and culture change.

The Communications Accelerator invests in the narrative power of grassroots climate movements. We believe that winning on climate requires building durable narrative infrastructure that centers equity, justice and the leadership of marginalized communities and shifts how people think about climate. Community organizations, especially those in communities of color, have been notoriously under-resourced to develop and lead strategies and messaging that resonates among diverse constituents.

How We Advance Narrative Strategy

Grantmaking

Directly funding grassroot organizations and narrative partners to develop and amplify climate equity storytelling that resonates with communities most impacted.

Capacity-Building

Providing tools, training and development, creative campaign resources and technical assistance to strengthen the communications infrastructure of state coalitions and local organizations. This support addresses a critical gap for many organizations facing urgent challenges with limited resources, often preventing them from focusing on effective strategic communications.

Collaboration & Alignment

Connecting and creating spaces for organizers, communicators, cultural strategists and funders to align around shared narrative goals and scale what works across issues, campaigns, and states. We offer our grantee partners guidance and resources for communications and campaign coordination within coalitions to build long-term equity-driven narratives.

INSIDE THE COMMUNICATIONS ACCELERATOR

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

VOTER MODELING

We launched an initiative to understand the views of Black, Indigenous, AAPI, and Latinx voters on climate change, environmental justice policy, government regulation, and climate action. The result? Two non-partisan voter targeting models and tested messaging to mobilize voters of color as climate equity champions.
